Why beeswax?
January 30 2021 – Caitlyn Farrow

When I first found out I was pregnant, I immediately started looking at my house like a danger zone. I'd read all of the books and was ready to baby proof my house- anchoring furniture, placing outlet covers everywhere, and more. I cleared out my cleaning supply closet and opted for more natural and safer alternatives.
But all of the baby and parenting books were missing one thing that I love dearly- candles. I had no idea the candles I was burning in my home were so unclean.
I didn't realize that some of those candles (specifically those made with paraffin wax, which is made from petroleum) were releasing toxins in the air, some of which were linked to cancer. You can read more about the 2009 study here.
Even some of my favorite fragrances in safer wax blends were dangerous depending on the chemicals used to make them known as phlatate.
This information and my own need to play it better safe than sorry led me to beeswax candles. Not only is it a natural and renewable substance, but it also offers many additional benefits!
Because beeswax comes naturally from hard at work bees, it doesn't have the dangerous chemicals that paraffin wax does. They also don't produce the dark soot that can stick to the area surrounding your candle and your lungs.
This also helps many candle lovers with allergies still enjoy the golden flicker and natural subtle honey scent of beeswax candles without all of the usual symptoms.
As often as I enjoy burning candles, I feel much safer knowing I'm burning a cleaner wax in my home with my littles.
I look forward to helping you find peace of mind with beeswax candles with phlatate-free fragrances or the natural honey scent!
With care,
Caitlyn
